5th Grade Museum Walk

Fifth Grade TAG students concluded their unit on Museum with a Museum Walk for the  parents. During the unit, students chose an artist to research. Students used a note-taking grid to take bulleted notes which they had summarized in their own words. The notes from the note-taking grid were the framework for their five paragraph essay. Students then designed a tri-fold board which included their choice of products from a choiceboard. As you can see from the pictures, a most talented and creative group of students!

Excitement builds as the students set up for the parents.

They were so proud of their work!

A choiceboard  activity was to present their artist with birthday gifts.
Another choiceboard activity included a timeline of the artist's life, a world map to show where the artist lived, traveled to, or places where the artist's works are housed.

Each student was required to do a painting/sketch of their artist.

Many students chose to do a PowerPoint highlighting the artist's life and talent.

Some students chose to compare the artist's works through a  Venn-diagram.

Technology was a major part of our research which included PowerPoints designed by our savvy students.

Musicians were a choice for many. Students had their final typed 5-paragraph essays on display for the parents to enjoy.

The creativity and organization of  these 5th grade students was impressive!

Students had books  on display that had  been used in their research.

Students getting last minute instructions. Parents were very complimentary as to how well the students knew their topic.

A proud teacher!

Students practiced their communication skills as parents enjoyed browsing and asking questions about their artists.

A student proudly sharing her research with parents.

We even had students dress the part!

A happy teacher who had just guided 52 5th graders through a research project culminating in a Museum Walk with these incredible boards.
