3rd Graders Diving into Research
Students picked an endangered animal to research, then made either a script or a diorama to present the information they learned.
Each week, we studied different animals while working on our standards. We compared and contrasted the barn owl and the northern spotted owl to work on higher order thinking.
Did you know that most of the endangered animals on Earth are insects? Students studied specific insects and created a research poster.
Students were then given shapes and charged with the task of creating anatomically correct, fictional insects. They created short narratives about discovering their insects. Students had a lot of fun using creativity and spatial skills!
Many children chose dioramas as their performance task.
They did a great job creating their scenes!
