3rd Graders Venture into Wildlife Research

Our endangered animal unit is underway! Last week we explored vocabulary and classified the terms by common characteristics.

Ask your child about this Lazarus Taxon: the Coelacanth!

After studying about this "living fossil," students imagined scenarios where other extinct animals were rediscovered.

We've also brought technology into the classroom! We checked out the brand new laptop cart, and each child had his/her own device. As a teacher, I am excited for the production capabilities that individual laptops will open up!

This week, we used the World Wildlife Fund website to research endangered animals, and we narrowed our interests down to the animals we'll use for our projects. The kids are eager to begin!
